Rough Filament Estimate — “Turns per Meter” Method
- Mark a single point on the filament still wound on the spool.
- Pull out exactly 1 meter of filament and count how many full turns it takes to unwind that 1 meter.
- Example: 1 meter = 18 turns
- Count the total number of turns remaining on the spool (estimate by counting height layers from spool center and width layers inside of spool and multiplying).
- Calculate the remaining length:
remaining_meters = total_turns / turns_per_meter- Example: If 18 turns = 1 meter, and the spool has about 220 turns:
220 / 18 ≈ 12.2 meters left
- Example: If 18 turns = 1 meter, and the spool has about 220 turns:
This method gives only a rough estimate, but it’s fast and requires no scale, no measurements, and no math beyond simple division.
